Professional Lighting Installation in New Jersey

N.E.C. Electric installs all types of residential and commercial lighting fixtures throughout New Jersey. We handle everything from simple fixture swaps to complete lighting design and installation for new construction or renovations.

Every installation is wired to NEC standards and local code requirements. We pull permits when required and coordinate inspections so your project passes the first time.

What We Install

  • Recessed lighting – Can lights, LED downlights, and retrofit kits for kitchens, bathrooms, and living spaces
  • Ceiling fixtures – Chandeliers, flush mounts, pendants, and track lighting
  • Ceiling fans – With or without light kits, properly braced and balanced
  • Under-cabinet lighting – LED strips and puck lights for kitchens and workspaces
  • Outdoor lighting – Wall sconces, post lights, landscape lighting, and security floods
  • Specialty fixtures – Bathroom vanity lights, closet lighting, and custom installations

Why Proper Installation Matters

Lighting isn't just about screwing in a bulb. Fixtures need to be supported correctly, wired with the right gauge wire, and protected by appropriate circuit breakers. Recessed cans require proper clearance from insulation. Outdoor fixtures need weatherproof boxes and GFCI protection where code requires it.

We size circuits correctly so you're not overloading a single breaker with too many fixtures. If your existing wiring can't handle the new load, we'll let you know up front and give you options.

Our Process

We start with a walkthrough to understand what you want and assess your existing electrical system. For larger projects, we'll provide a lighting plan showing fixture locations and switch placements.

Installation includes running new wiring if needed, installing junction boxes, mounting fixtures, and testing everything before we leave. We clean up debris and take old fixtures away if you want them gone.

All work is inspected and tested. You get lights that work safely and reliably.

Common questions
Do I need a permit for lighting installation?+

It depends on the scope of work. Simple fixture replacements on existing circuits typically don't require permits. New circuits, recessed lighting that involves cutting into ceilings, and most outdoor wiring do require permits in New Jersey. We handle all permit applications and inspections when needed.

Can you install lights if I don't have existing wiring in that location?+

Yes. We run new wiring from your panel or an existing circuit, install the necessary junction boxes, and ensure everything is properly supported and code-compliant. We'll assess whether your panel has capacity for additional circuits.

How long does a typical lighting installation take?+

A simple fixture swap takes about an hour. Installing a set of recessed lights in one room usually takes half a day. Whole-home lighting projects or outdoor landscape lighting can take several days depending on complexity. We give you a timeline with your estimate.
